András Zs. Varga: The Curia must be solid, self-confident and reliable – The President of the Curia presented his plans and decisions at the Curia’s Plenary Session

“We have to function as a Curia whose justices, as judges of the superior court of Hungary enjoying great authority, are able to harmonize the detailed dogmatic considerations necessary for the determination of the individual cases with the general requirement of enforcing the Fundamental Law” – emphasised Dr. András Zs. Varga in his speech delivered at the Curia’s online Plenary Session on 11 January 2021.

The New Year’s greeting of the President of the Curia of Hungary

Like our fellow Hungarian citizens and the European peoples, we entered into the new year of 2021 with concerns over the pandemic that has been lasting for ten months. Despite all this, we have to be optimistic. There is no other road to take, and we have to be confident that this challenge can also be overcome by the human spirit, as we have managed to successfully combat so many other threats.

Exchange of experience between the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic and the Curia of Hungary

Upon invitation from Dr. Péter Darák, President of the Curia of Hungary, JuDr. Petr Angyalossy, President of the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic and his delegation paid a visit to Budapest on 28-30 July 2020. During his official visit to Hungary, the Czech Chief Justice met and had discussions with the management of the Curia as well as the representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

Book presentation at the Curia’s first plenary session of the year 2020

On 10 February 2020, the Curia of Hungary held its first plenary session of the year in the supreme judicial forum’s ceremonial hall. At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Péter Darák welcomed the Curia’s freshly seconded justices and publicly thanked retiring Heads of Department Dr. Ákos Székely and Dr. György Wellmann for their hard work.
