The Curia of Hungary has a new Vice-President

President of the Republic Dr. János Áder appointed Head of Panel Prof. Dr. András Patyi to become, as of 1 April 2021, the Curia’s Vice-President for a period of six years.

Mr. András Patyi, head of panel at the Curia of Hungary and a university professor worked at the Constitutional Court between 1993 and 1996, while in 1996 he became a staff member at the Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for National and Ethnic Minorities. Between 1997 and 2006, he served as chief notary to Budapest District 12th (Hegyvidék) Municipality, while between 2006 and 2009, he worked as a chief counsellor at the Constitutional Court. Later on, between 2009 and 2011, he administered justice as a judge at the Administrative Department of the Supreme Court of Hungary. Between 2013 and 2018, he acted as the Chairman of the National Election Committee. Since 4 September 2018, he has been the Head of Panel of the Curia’s Municipality Panel.

From 1994 till 2004, he was a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of the University of Szeged. Since 2003, he has been a lecturer at the Széchenyi István University of Győr, and since 2012, he has been giving lectures at the National University of Public Service. He also served, until 31 August 2018, as the founding rector of the latter university. He is a member of numerous Hungarian and international organisations. Since 2008, he has been a member of the public body of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, since 2009, he has been a member of the Hungarian Association of Administrative Judges. He is also a member of the Hungarian Atlantic Council. In 2018, in recognition of his outstanding professional career, he was awarded the Middle Cross (Civil Division) of the Hungarian Order of Merit.
