Like our fellow Hungarian citizens and the European peoples, we entered into the new year of 2021 with concerns over the pandemic that has been lasting for ten months. Despite all this, we have to be optimistic. There is no other road to take, and we have to be confident that this challenge can also be overcome by the human spirit, as we have managed to successfully combat so many other threats.

We should not submit ourselves to the uncertainty caused by the present situation, because we have to continue to carry out our duties. The Curia of Hungary and the fundamental mission thereof have not changed: we are to serve the laws and seek to deliver just decisions in the cases of those who turn to us. We have to search for the truth, and the more the Curia’s judgements adhere to fact-based reality the closer we can get thereto. The above mission has remained unchanged irrespective of the pandemic and our own concerns.

In the hope that our joint efforts will not be fruitless, I wish all the employees of the Curia of Hungary a New Year that is peaceful and happy and in which we may live in good health and more freely than last year.

Budapest, the 4th of January 2021
