The 70th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights – the European Court of Human Rights’ seminar and solemn hearing for the opening of the 2020 judicial year

Dr. Péter Darák, President of the Curia participated at the European Court of Human Rights’ solemn hearing for the opening of the judicial year and a preceding seminar on 31 January 2020 in Strasbourg.

The seminar was attended by many prominent representatives of the European countries’ judicial systems, including Supreme Court presidents and Constitutional Court presidents, and focused on the topic of “The European Convention on Human Rights: living instrument at 70”.

From the Code of Civil Procedure to a separate Code of Administrative Litigation – Lecture delivered by the President of the Curia of Hungary in Regensburg

The President of the Curia delivered a lecture at an international students’ seminar in Regensburg. Upon invitation from the Institute for Eastern European Law in Munich and the University of Regensburg, Dr. Péter Darák paid a visit to the Bavarian city on 9-11 October 2019. The event was co-organised by the aforementioned two host organisations as well as their Ukrainian and Kazakh partner institutions.

Digitalisation in the justice system – The President of the Curia of Hungary attended the jubilatory conference of the General Court of the European Union

Dr. Péter Darák, President of the Curia of Hungary attended a jubilatory colloquium organised on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the General Court of the European Union on 25 September 2019 in Luxembourg. The conference’s topic was “The General Court of the European Union in the Digital Era”.

International tax law conference in Cambridge with the participation of tax judges from five continents

Dr. Péter Darák, President of the Curia of Hungary, attended the annual assembly and conference of the International Association of Tax Judges (IATJ) in Cambridge on 13-14 September 2019.

The conference, which was attended by tax judges from five continents, discussed the various tax and penalties regimes, the tax procedures, legal reasoning in tax cases, the role of soft law in tax adjudication, and recent case law on partnerships and beneficial ownership.

The 2020 year IATJ annual conference will be hosted by the Curia of Hungary in Budapest.

Deepening the bilateral ties between the Dutch and the Hungarian supreme courts

Upon invitation from the President of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands, a three-member Curia delegation led by the President of the Curia of Hungary paid an official visit to The Hague on 8-10 September 2019 with the aim of deepening the bilateral professional ties between the supreme judicial forums of the two countries.
