The Curia of Hungary was consulted by the European Commission’s representatives on the Rule of Law Report

Prof. Dr. András Zs. Varga, President of the Curia of Hungary, the Curia’s Vice-Presidents and Secretary General, the representatives of the Curia’s chambers as well as the Director of the Curia’s Werbőczy Research Institute and the Head of the Curia’s International Department were engaged, in the afternoon of 6 February 2023, in an online consultation with the European Commission’s representatives for the preparation of the country chapter on Hungary of the European Commission’s 2023 Rule of Law Report, within the framework of the Commission’s virtual country visit this year.

Solemn Hearing and Judicial Seminar at the European Court of Human Rights

The European Court of Human Rights held a Solemn Hearing on 27 January 2023 in Strasbourg. At the event, Prof. Dr. András Zs. Varga, President of the Curia of Hungary, was represented by Dr. Judit Gyarmathy, Secretary General of the Curia of Hungary.

At the Solemn Hearing, Ms. Siofra O’Leary, President of the Court, gave a summary of the achievements of the European Court of Human Rights over the past year and evaluated the Court’s activities.

The Ambassador of the United States of America to Hungary was received by the President of the Curia of Hungary in his office

Prof. Dr. András Zs. Varga, President of the Curia of Hungary received H.E. David Pressman, the newly appointed Ambassador of the United States of America to Hungary, in his office at the Curia on 16 November 2022. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Judit Gyarmathy, Secretary General of the Curia of Hungary, Dr. Lipót Höltzl, Head of the International Department of the Curia of Hungary and Dr. Zita Bencsik, Head of the North-America Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.
