The Curia of Hungary has made significant steps in 2017, too, in developing integrity and eliminating the risks of corruption. On 11 November 2017 the supreme judicial forum participated, together with several other state agencies, in the annual conference which evaluated the implementation of the commitments that had been undertaken in the Statement of Cooperation in Strengthening Ability to Resist Corruption, signed in November 2011.

The President of the Curia was bestowed with a highly distinguished Austrian state order of merit on 20 November 2017. The Grand Decoration of Honour in Gold with Sash for Services to the Republic of Austria (Großes Goldenes Ehrenzeichen am Bande für Verdienste um die Republik Österreich) was bestowed on Dr. Péter Darák in the premises of the Palace of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Austria in Vienna. This is the second most prestigious Austrian state decoration of honour that can be awarded to heads of governments, ministers and parliament chairpersons.

A Peruvian Supreme Court delegation held discussions with the Chief Justice of Hungary on their professional co-operation. At the invitation of Curia President Dr. Péter Darák, Mr. Duberlí Apolinar Rodríguez Tineo, President of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Peru and his justice colleague, Mr. Javier Arevalo Vela paid an official visit to the Curia on 10 November 2017.

A delegation of the Curia led by Dr. Péter Darák took part in a discussion on current issues in European tax law between the 18th and 19th October in Munich. The members of the highest judicial forum in Hungary travelled to the capital city of Bavaria at the invitation of Prof. Dr. h.c. Rudolf Mellinghoff, President of the Federal Fiscal Court of Germany.

The judges and senior advisors of the Curia of Hungary were given the opportunity to become acquainted with the main aspects of the use of efficient legal argumentation techniques and with the Australian system of adjudication of tax cases. On the invitation of Dr. Péter Darák, the President of Hungary’s supreme judicial forum, the Honourable Mr. Tony Pagone and Ms. Jennifer Davies, Justices of the Federal Court of Australia, specialised in tax law cases, paid an official visit to the Curia on 2-3 October 2017.
