Dr. Péter DARÁK, President of the Curia of Hungary convoked the Plenary Session of Curia judges on the 30th of January 2017 to the Curia’s future premises at Kossuth Square, which is currently occupied by the Museum of Ethnography.
In his welcome address, the chief justice of the country’s supreme judicial forum emphasised that the Curia – which had entered its sixth year of operation – would face additional changes this year. He underlined that 2017 would be a year primarily for preparing for the application of the new procedural codes.
The President of the Curia participated at the European Court of Human Rights’ solemn hearing for the opening of the judicial year and a preceding seminar on 27 January 2017 in Strasbourg.
The seminar was attended by many prominent representatives of the European countries’ judicial systems, including Supreme Court presidents and Constitutional Court presidents, and focused on the topic of “Non-refoulement as a principle of international law and the role of the judiciary in its implementation”.
