General anti-avoidance rules, tax procedures and the courts’ changing case-law at the IATJ’s tax law conference in Canada

The President of the Curia of Hungary attended the 9th Assembly and Conference of the International Association of Tax Judges (IATJ). Dr. Péter Darák and the judicial delegation led by him participated in the event in Ottawa, Canada on 27-30 September 2018.

During the conference, the President of the Curia of Hungary, as a member of the IATJ’s Board of Directors, attended a number of Board of Directors meetings as well.

Dr. Péter Darák has attended the 6th annual EELF conference on „Environmental loss and damage: attribution, liability, compensation and restoration”

On 12-14 September 2018 dr. Péter Darák, President of the Curia of Hungary, participated in the 6^th annual conference of the European Environmental Law Forum held in Como, Italy.

The conference dealt with issues related to environmental loss and damage, including private and corporate environmental liability, international liability and compensation for transboundary environmental damage, the role of criminal liability, and climate change liability.

The Chief Justices of Central and Eastern Europe have met for the eighth time

On 27-29 May 2018 the Chief Justices of Central and Eastern Europe had met for the eighth time, this time in the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius.

Péter Darák: a consistent, transparent-to-the-public judicial practice on the application of the novel procedural rules has to be established

Dr. Péter Darák, President of the Curia of Hungary convoked the plenary session of Curia judges on 14 May 2018 to the Curia’s Auditorium. At the meeting, a number of heads of panels reported on the adjudicating activities of their respective judicial panels as well as on international seminars they had attended, in addition, the participants elected the new members of the first and second instance disciplinary tribunals.

Conference of the chief justices of the V4 countries, Croatia and Slovenia – Péter Darák: we have to address the issues of judicial reforms in an open and sincere manner

At their meeting held in Visegrád on 17 April 2018, the chief justices of the Central European region discussed the topics of the filtering mechanisms of supreme courts and the national implementation of the European Union rules on preventing money laundering and the financing of terrorism. In addition to the so-called Visegrád countries, two South Eastern European countries were also represented at the 13th Permanent Conference of the Chief Justices of Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.
