Dr. Péter Darák, President of the Curia of Hungary attended the 4th Conference of Chief Justices of Central and Eastern Europe on 22-25 June 2014 in Tbilisi. The participants of the conference discussed, inter alia, the following topics: issuing clear, well-reasoned opinions at all levels; electronic case filing; handling long trials, including using on-line conferences where appropriate; effective disciplinary mechanisms; continuing judicial education; alternate dispute resolution; and building public trust by strengthening media services.

Dr. Péter Darák, President of the Curia of Hungary participated at the Colloquium of the Network of the Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union on 12-13 June 2014 in Rome. The main subject of discussions was the relations between the supreme courts and the lower instance courts.

A Plenary Session of Curia judges, convoked by Dr. Péter DARÁK, President of the Curia of Hungary, was held on the 12th of May 2014.

At the beginning of the meeting, the President of the Curia reported on the activity of the highest instance judicial forum in the year 2013.

Following his annual progress report, Ms. Tünde HANDÓ, President of the National Office for the Judiciary and Ms. Angéla SIMON MÓROCZNÉ, President of the National Judicial Council had the opportunity to report on the activities of their respective institutions.

Dr. Péter DARÁK, President of the Curia of Hungary convoked the Plenary Session of Curia judges on the 27th of January 2014.

At the beginning of the meeting, the President of the Curia bestowed the “Judge of the Curia in 2013” medallion on Mr. Zoltán VARGA, Judge at the Criminal Department and the “Official of the Curia in 2013” medallion on Ms. Edit KOVÁCS, Deputy Head of the Financial and Provisions Department.
