It was the fourth time during the year 2022 that the representatives of foreign election monitoring organisations visited the Curia of Hungary. The most recent delegation was received by Prof. Dr. András Zs. Varga, President of the Curia of Hungary, the Curia’s Vice-President responsible for ensuring uniform jurisprudence, the Deputy Head of the Curia’s Administrative Chamber and the Head of the Curia’s International Department on 31 March 2022.
The representatives of the foreign election monitoring organisations concerned – namely Ordo Iuris from Poland, Judicial Watch from the United States of America, Pro Rodinu from the Czech Republic and CEFAS from Spain –, arrived in Hungary a few days earlier with the aim of assessing and monitoring the regularity and legality of the relevant processes prior to the upcoming general elections and national referendum.
During their meeting, the parties held discussions on the following topics: the role of the courts in the electoral process, the review of the decisions of the election committees and the courts’ jurisprudence on referendum-related cases.
