The European Court of Human Rights held a Solemn Hearing on 24 June 2022 in Strasbourg. At the invitation of Robert Spano, the President of the Court, Dr. András Zs. Varga, the President of the Curia of Hungary also attended the event, at which President Spano summarised the achievements of the European Court of Human Rights over the past year and evaluated the activities of the Court.
As a side event to the Solemn Hearing, an international judicial seminar was also organised on “The Protection of Human Rights in a Global Pandemic: New Challenges and New Perspectives”, where the participants – presidents of European supreme and constitutional courts, judges of the European Court of Human Rights, representatives of the Court of Justice of the European Union and experts from the Council of Europe – discussed cases and experiences related to the positive obligations of states in these special circumstances, and human rights restrictions.
