“The Hungarian heroes of 1956 have stood as a timeless example and have served as a never-ending source of power to all freedom-loving nations” – told Dr. Péter Darák on 24 October 2018 in Munich. The President of the Curia delivered a solemn speech at Hungary’s Consulate General in the Bavarian capital to commemorate the 1956 revolution and freedom fight in Hungary. President Darák emphasised that “the Hungarian revolution’s living truth is that people and nations should live only in freedom for which sacrifice is never in vain, even in the most desperate times”.
The President of the Curia paid a visit to the Bavarian capital upon invitation from Mr. Gábor Tordai-Lejkó, Consul General of Hungary to Munich. The commemoratory event was held in the new building of the Consulate General and was also attended by Mr. Peter Küspert, President of the Constitutional Court of Bavaria as a representative of the Free State of Bavaria. The Consulate General’s press release as well as some photos of the event can be found here.
