Visit of the President of the Lebanese Supreme Judicial Council to the Curia of Hungary

During his official visit to Hungary, Mr. Jean Daoud Fahed, President of the Court of Cassation and the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Lebanon met and held discussions with dr. Péter Darák, President of the Curia on 23 April 2015.

The Lebanese and Hungarian Chief Justices addressed and discussed the following topics: case backlog management in the courts, the relationship between the courts and the media, the independence and irremovability of judges, as well as the promotion of opportunities for co-operation between the two supreme judicial bodies.

During their discussions, President Fahed provided brief information about the Turkish and French roots of the Lebanese legal system and reported that the Lebanese Court of Cassation would celebrate its 100th anniversary in the year 2019 by organising an international conference to which President Darák would be kindly invited to attend.
