At the invitation of Ms Corina-Alina Corbu, President of the Supreme Court of Cassation and Justice of Romania, Dr. András Zs. Varga, President of the Curia of Hungary, Dr. Katalin Böszörményi-Kovács, Vice-President of the Curia of Hungary, and Dr. Zsolt Csák, Head of the Criminal Department of the Curia of Hungary paid a three-day working visit to Bucharest from 29 June to 1 July 2022.
The aim of the meeting was to further develop bilateral relations between the supreme judicial forums of the two neighbouring countries. The parties discussed the progress and developments achieved in the judicial systems of the two countries, namely the modernisation and digitalisation of the Romanian and the Hungarian supreme courts, as well as the issue of interaction between national and EU law.
The delegation, which was led by the President of the Curia of Hungary, also visited the Constitutional Court of Romania, where they had talks with Mr. Marian Enache, President of the Constitutional Court of Romania, and members of the Constitutional Court.
As part of the official programme, the delegation also visited the settlement of Snagov, near Bucharest, where the President of the Curia laid a wreath at the Imre Nagy Memorial. After the suppression of the 1956 revolution and freedom fight, Hungary's martyred prime minister was detained under house arrest in Snagov for a short time.
