30th Anniversary of the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic – Solemn Conference in Brno

At the invitation of Dr. Petr Angyalossy, President of the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic, Prof. Dr. András Zs. Varga, President of the Curia, and Dr. Judit Gyarmathy, Secretary General of the Curia, participated in a solemn international conference on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the existence of the Supreme Court of the independent Czech Republic in Brno on 14-15 September 2023.

At the event, not only did participants discuss the role of supreme courts in providing effective legal protection and access to justice, but they also engaged in panel discussions on the European dimensions of the courts of last instance and of efficient judicial protection, providing reasoning for refusal in supreme court decisions, problematic issues related to the role of supreme courts in ensuring the uniform application of law, and several 21st-century challenges that the supreme judicial forums are faced with.

Mr. Koen Lenaerts, President of the Court of Justice of the European Union, Prof. Dineke de Groot, President of the Supreme Court of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and Mr. Tatu Leppänen, President of the Supreme Court of Finland also graced the jubilee conference with their presence and speeches.
