The Vice Presidential Delegation of the Chinese Supreme People’s Court was received by the President of the Curia of Hungary

Upon invitation from Prof. Dr. András Zs. Varga, President of the Curia of Hungary, the Executive Vice President of the Supreme People’s Court of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Deng Xiuming and his five-member delegation paid an official visit to Budapest between 15 and 17 June 2025.

The Curia’s statement in respect of Decision No. Kgyk.IV.39.061/2025/7

In its Judgment No. Kgyk.VII.39.057/2025/8, dated 31 May 2025, the Curia annulled the decision of the assembly authority and ordered it to conduct new proceedings with regard to the event scheduled by the notification for 1 June 2025, entitled “March for the equal rights of LGBTQI people on the 5th anniversary of the adoption of section 33...” due to a violation of the obligation to establish the facts and provide reasoning in an appropriate manner.

Several civil society organizations have notified the Budapest Police Department, acting as the assembly authority, of their intention to hold a march on 1 June 2025 with the aim of “standing up for the equal rights of transgender people and the LGBTQI community and draw attention to the effects of exclusionist legislation over the past five years, particularly in view of the upcoming 30th Budapest Pride parade and the Government’s incitement of hatred against the LGBTQ community”.

Visit of the delegation of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom to the Curia

In the development of the Curia’s international relations, the official visit of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom to Hungary from 6 to 8 May has been of particular importance. At the invitation of Prof. Dr. András Zs. Varga, President of the Curia, The Lord Reed of Allermuir, President of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom; Lord Hodge, Deputy President of the Supreme Court; Lord Richards and Lady Simler, justices of the Supreme Court; and Registrar Laura Angus were welcomed at the Curia.

The President of the Curia attended the V4 Conference of Supreme Court Presidents

At the invitation of Dr. hab. Małgorzata Manowska, First President of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Poland, Prof. Dr. András Zs. Varga, President of the Curia and Dr. Judit Gyarmathy, Secretary General of the Curia attended the V4 Conference of Supreme Court Presidents in Baranów Sandomierski on 23-24 April 2025.
